Lightning tips:

When you spot a thunderstorm and you want to take pictures of the lightning strikes you firstly have to see if it is possible. There are two kinds of lightnings that you can see: some are above the clouds (and you will see some white light spreading around) and under the clouds (and you should be able to see the actual bolt).

Low light is perfect for lightning pictures, because it allows you to lenghten the shutter speed. As pieces of equipement a tripod and a remote controller should do the trick (personally I don't have a remote controller but anyway). Take something to cover your camera if it's raining (a plastic bag works just good enough).

Look where the lightnings are, autofocus to infinite and then set the camera on manual focus. Set the iso to a lower value for a greater quality of the image and for a longer shutter speed. Set the aperture to a higher value so that you have a smaller depth of field, and for longer shutter speed. Now just wait for that lightning to come right when your camera is taking a picture.
